WVU Art Museum expected to open in August

MORGANTOWN — The $9.5 million WVU Art Museum is slated for completion this summer.

It will have about 5,300 square feet of exhibition and gallery spaces on two levels, a large climate-controlled art storage facility, a classroom with full audio/visual capabilities, a collection research room and support facilities, according to information provided by WVU.

Under construction by Morgantown-based firm March-Westin, the outside of the museum will feature a sculpture garden and plaza and will be open to students by the start of the fall semester.

John Thompson, associate director of Design & Construction, said art will adorn the museum’s walls and it will feature WVU collections, as well as space for guest exhibits.
