WVU’s planned art museum has a groundbreaking ceremony planned for next month, as the university is reviewing the bids to construct the facility.

Seven companies have submitted bids, each slightly above $7 million, to build the museum, which will be located next to the old Erickson Alumni Center on the Evansdale Campus.

Those bids, when combined with other costs such as renovations to the old center, bring the projects total just under the $11.3 million officials estimated, Spokesman John Bolt said.

Art museum staff has scheduled a groundbreaking ceremony for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 10.
